Seattle
It's a beautiful city, despite the fact that there's a Starbucks on every corner (which means no waiting in long lines for you coffee lovers!) Stop by Pike's Fish market so you can say "been there, done that." For the aviation buff, Boeing's Museum of Flight is an excellent museum.
Olympic National Park
Start with a relaxing ferry ride out of Seattle (I was on the Edmonds-Kingston route) and head for Highway 101. In addition to the park, take some time to visit one of the many beaches. I stopped at Rialto beach for some evening shots of the sea stacks and giant "driftwood" logs. Just don't forget your flashlight and pay attention to the tide.
Mt. Rainier National Park
Yet another Pacific NorthWest area that could be the focus of a trip in and of itself. Enjoy the many mountain streams, waterfalls, and stop by the Paradise Lodge to check out the photos of just how much snowfall the region receives.
Mount St. Helen's
I remember watching the eruption on TV back in 1980, but you can not gain an appreciation of the extent of the devastation until you see this area first hand. Equally amazing is how Nature has recovered.
Lighthouses
There's a number of lighthouses dotting the Washington coastline but I was only able to stop at North Head and Grays Harbor lights. I left Grays Harbor wondering how much the landscape had changed since it was originally built because it is quite far inland compared to most other lights.
