The Windy City has some unique architecture, not to mention a few decent photographic stores. Check out the "Bean" in Millenium park, just don't let the Segway-riding security catch you with a tripod or they'll ask you to leave. The Navy Pier area provides not only people watching opportunities, but also a view of the harbor lighthouse.
