What's in the Bag
It seems that everyone wants to know what gear everyone else is using, so here is what goes into my camera bags.
Camera |
|
| Canon EOS 5D Mark II | A huge upgrade from my 20D. |
Lenses |
|
| Canon 16-35 f/2.8L USM | I bought this one for the Canon because I liked shooting with the Nikon version so much. Fun lens! |
| Canon 24-105 f/4 IS USM | Replaced my 28-135m. |
| Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM | Great lens. 'Nuff said. |
| Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM | Decent telephoto lens on an APS-C digital SLR due to the 1.6X field of view, but it needs to be stopped down to achieve any kind of sharpness. I personally don't like the push-pull zoom and would prefer a two-ring system like the 70-200. |
| Canon 180 f/3.5L Macro | My least used lens, but that's my fault due to the type of shooting I like. Extremely S-L-O-W autofocus, but who uses AF with this lens any way? |
Flash |
|
| Canon Speedlight 580EX II | I like the "look" of Nikon's flash system better than the Canon, perhaps E-TTL II will help Canon catch up. |
| Lightsphere II | Gary Fong's product for portrait lighting.. |
Miscellaneous |
|
| Arca Swiss B1 Ballhead | I haven't experienced any "lock up" issues that you sometimes read about with this ballhead. |
| Feisol 3422 Tripod | The instructor at a large format scanning workshop turned me on to these tripods. Light weight, well made, and low cost (for carbon fiber). |
| Canon TC-80N3 Shutter Release | Remote shutter release for all tripod mounted shots. |
| Really Right Stuff | I use an Arca-Swiss L-brackets on my cameras, and have plates for all the lenses. |
| Polarizing Filters | I use B+W circular polarizers. |
| Neutral Density Filters | I have Singh Ray and Lee grads. |
| xRite Passport, WhiBal G6 | White balance when shooting RAW just got a lot easier. |
| Lenspen | |
| Compact Flash Cards | I use cards from Transcend now, but I've had everything from Lexar, Sandisk, and Kingston. |
