Architectually, the Sand Hills lighthouse is quite unlike any other lighthouse I have visited - a cross between a light tower and a bank. Sand Hills is located midway between Ontonagon and Eagle River on the Keewenaw peninsula. It was orginally built to support three keepers families at a cost of $70,000. Like many other lights, after it was deemed unnecessary, it was saved from falling into disrepair and is now a bed and breakfast. Click here for more information.
