The lighthouse sits on the high point at the end of a peninsula - too high in fact, as the light is obscured by low clouds and fog. The New Point Loma lightstation was built to correct this problem, but the old light has more charm. It's a beautiful area looking out over San Diego, the Coronado naval air station, and the Pacific Ocean.
